Hypnobirthing

Hypnosis is entirely natural and we experience hypnosis many times during the day and night. Whenever we read a good book, watch the television, or are simply daydreaming, this is hypnosis.

Hypnosis is a state of heightened relaxation and altered awareness. When we are in intended hypnosis, which is deeper and is more controlled than day dreaming, we are able to access our subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind is responsible for our autonomic processes such as blood circulation, breathing, heartbeat and tissue repair.

The subconscious mind is the seat of all our emotions and therefore directs all of your behaviour.

Hypnosis is a safe and natural way of accessing this natural intelligence and to issue new instructions to your subconscious mind for your pregnancy and the birth of your baby to be more calm, relaxed and for you to be in more control, and for you to be able to help control the level of pain during giving birth.

The pain that women experience during labour is mainly the result of tension in your body, and the tension is the result of the unknown, especially if you are pregnant for the first time. Some of the tension women experience during child birth is the result negative stories which you hear of other women giving birth. If the tension is taken away, then the pain will naturally reduce because you are more calm, relaxed and more confident about the birth, then as a result of this, the baby and mother has an easier and more relaxed birth.

Many women experience some sickness during pregnancy. This is due to the combination of hormonal, emotional and physical changes taking place within the body. By using hypnosis, we can give ‘new instructions’ to the subconscious mind, which is responsible for these changes, so that you can overcome morning sickness.

During the pregnancy it is important for you to eat the food and drink that is beneficial for you and your baby so that you both get the correct nutrients for the natural development of your baby and hypnosis is a natural way to get these benefits.

One of the many advantages of using hypnosis is being in more control during the delivery if your baby. Another benefit is that you are mentally calm and are more confident of your abilities during the birth and to increase your sense of being in control before, during and after the birth.

Prior to the birth you are given a technique which enables you to stay relaxed, be in control and allow you to manage the discomfort naturally, during the birth.

By creating pictures of a successful, happy, and relaxed birth within hypnosis, you can visualise your 'ideal' birth within your subconscious mind. And so when the time comes for you to give birth, because the subconscious mind has "experienced a birth" you feel more at ease because it feels familiar to you and your mind. This has many benefits including feeling more relaxed and calm about the prospect of giving birth, especially if you are pregnant for the first time.

Four sessions are generally needed before the birth of your baby, with the first one about twelve weeks into the pregnancy and the last one about six weeks before the due date. If you have a few weeks until the birth, then please give me a call.
