How are these changes achieved?

You may be surprised to learn that we are in hypnosis most of the time, especially when we read a good book, watching TV, driving and even while reading this website! Hypnosis is simply a narrowing of a subject's field of perception on a single idea or image. If fact we are in hypnosis all the time!  The only exception is when we are in pure undreaming sleep.  It is easier to understand the concept of how these beneficial and rewarding changes can be made if we understand a little about the conscious and subconscious mind. Habits such as smoking, nail biting, and phobias are stored in the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is the seat of all of your emotions and therefore directs all of your behaviour and is responsible for all atonomic processes such as blood circulation, breathing, heart beat and tissue repair.

The conscious mind is responsible for short-term memory, analytical thinking and questioning.

And it is during hypnosis that our subconscious mind is open to positive suggestion and this is where we can make the changes and tap into the natural, inner resource of the subconscious mind and make changes that are beneficial for us.

Hypnosis is simply a state of heightened relaxation and is a dreamy, pleasant experience and using hypnosis is often the start of a new way of life and your first visit could be the start of an exciting, stimulating and challenging journey.  Hypnosis from person to person.  It is very similar to the period when you have just woken up from natural sleep.  During hypnosis a person is completely aware of what is being said to them and remains in complete control.

The positive effects of sessions are long lasting and I record the last session onto CD so that you can go into hypnosis in your own time at home after our therapy has finished.

Stress Management

As more and more demands are being placed on our lives at work and at home it is easy to forget to take some time out for relaxation. One symptom of stress is insomnia and this is where hypnosis can help in many ways including allowing us to relax and unwind after a busy day at the office.  When we are stressed we tend not to keep things in their true perspective and proportion. This is easy to achieve with hypnotherapy.

During the initial consultation we discuss what your stress 'triggers' are and address these directly during the hypnosis sessions.  Different techniques can be used to overcome  any stress in your life wheather it be work or home related or any other situation or 'trigger'.
